The Key to a Timeless Design for Your New Home Build

Today we’re going to share with you some of our favorite architectural styles and how our design team will make your home building process, no matter which style you choose, a breeze.

introduction

One thing that sets the Liz Powell Design team apart is that we approach interior design from an architecture-first standpoint. It’s our core belief that a house is most beautiful when attention is given to the structure first and furnishings second.

The first step we take when working on a new home is getting to know you. Your home should be perfectly suited to your style and your family’s needs. Once we are confident that our team understands what kind of home you’re looking to build, we meticulously plan every inch of your home. From the exterior facade to the floor plan, every part of your home will suit the architectural style you love.

Now that you know what to expect from our home-building process, it’s time to get to know the architectural styles we work with the most!

EUROPEAN

Traditionally, European styles combine farmhouse and antique architecture and layouts with more modern furnishings and art. This is an elegant style that often incorporates traditionally feminine details to give the home a comfortable, lived-in feel.

MODERN

Modern home design relies on clean lines and sleek surfaces. You’ll see a lot of metal tones, chrome, and glass used in modern homes. The decor is usually kept to a minimum, which allows the furnishings and architecture to speak for themselves.

TIMELESS

Timeless, or transitional, style homes blend traditional and contemporary design elements. This can be done by combining architectural elements like moldings or door frames with more contemporary fixtures. Selecting furnishings in similar colors or fabrics additionally cements the timelessness of this style.

By no means is this a comprehensive list of the styles we work in, but they are our three most common. We do encourage our clients to select only one style for their home, to keep your home feeling cohesive. A well-designed home will flow from room to room, rather than feel like a home with many styles pushed next to one another.

Our team members are valued for their eye for detail and attention to design trends. We’re able to identify which home trends will be enduring and timeless and which will make your home look dated. We have made it our specialty to create homes with classic designs that you will love living in for a lifetime.

Once you’ve found your style and approved the design, it’s time to begin building! Our team works as the go-between for you and all of the contractors, craftsmen, and builders working on your home. It’s our job to make sure they are all well-versed in your vision for your final home and that they complete the project on time.

By setting expectations before ever breaking ground, we’re able to make sure your finished home looks just like the plans we draw up with you. There will be no surprises come move-in day when you build a home with us.

We know that building a new home is a big investment, and we want you to love the outcome! That’s why we specialize in building our clients classic, timeless homes that will grow with their families over the years.
